(ICT)
Welcome to the School Improvement
Service ICT section of the Vale of Glamorgan Website.
We aim to support both teachers and pupils in the use of ICT
across the curriculum. We help schools to make the best use of ICT
and keep them up to date with technology changes and national
strategies and priorities to create the best climate for pupils
motivation and learning.
We provide a full range of strategic, curriculum and technical
support for schools. This includes:
- Targeted support for schools
- Whole day, half day or twilight training in schools.
- Central based training.
- Exemplar ICT lessons.
- Support for ICT senior managers, ICT subject leaders and all
classroom based staff.
- Support and training on all hardware and software used by
schools.
- Specific support for ICT projects such as the Becta ICT
Mark
- Interactive Whiteboard Training
- ICT teaching resources and support for staff to make the most
of their software.
- Telephone and email support
- Training on using and managing the school portal
- Media support including the use of film, podcasting and video
conferencing for both PC and Mac
We also offer procurement and technical support for all schools
through a service level agreement provided by the ICT and Data
team.
We can help schools create a well developed and up to date ICT
Strategy and make sure they can provide the best access to ICT for
learning. We also make sure that the learners enjoy and achieve,
making the very best of available technologies to help motivate
their learning. We can also make sure they are equipped with the
skills so that they stay safe at all times when they are using
technology.

Schools in the Vale of Glamorgan have access to resources,
data and SIMS Learning Gateway through the Vale Portal.
This is a secure site and only those with a password will be
able to access this information.
