The application process has changed quite dramatically over the past few years and you can now apply either via a paper application or on-line. The Application form is called the PN1 form, and it is available online at http://www.studentfinancewales.co.uk/

 

This new website enables:

  • Students to apply online;
  • Download paper application forms and notes
  • Allows students and parents to track the progress of their application;
  • Enables students and parents to calculate the amount of Student Support that may be available;
  • The website also gives valuable advice on all aspects of Student Support.

Assembly Learner Grant

If you are entering Further Education you may be entitled to this grant; for enquiries please contact your Educational Establishment

 

Further Education Students Travel Grant for 16/19 year olds

The Vale of Glamorgan Council have a Discretionary Policy which provides financial help towards travelling to and from a student's chosen Educational Establishment.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Aged 16 - 19 on or before the start of the academic year in which you are applying;
  2. Living more than three miles away from your chosen Educational Establishment. This would normally be a Further Education College such as Barry College, Coleg Glan Hafren, etc.

You should contact the Student Support Section on 01446 709539 for an application form. If you are not eligible under the above scheme your college may be willing to help using their Financial Contingency funds.

  • We provide information and advice on all types of student support.
  • We use national regulations and local policies to decide who is entitled to student support.
  • We assess the value of student support.
  • We provide booklets about the different kinds of support to which you may be entitled.
  • We visit schools and colleges to explain what support is available for students.
  • We accept applications for higher education student support for students normally resident in The Vale of Glamorgan Council area at the time of the application.
  • We administer the Welsh assembly Learner Grant for H E only.
