Food Sampling

At the Vale of Glamorgan Council, we regularly monitor and check food goods.  We look at the Microbiological Contamination levels in food and well as analysing them for chemicals, nutritional content and to check labelling accuracy among others.

We sample from our own plan and also as part of various cross Wales groups.  Our individual plan is based upon monitoring local producers to ensure that they are meeting current legislation regulations, checking products produced outside of the Vale of Glamorgan meet all the current legislation and guidance and ensuring the authenticity of food.

Any problems are dealt with by our Environmental Health Officers or referred to the local authority of the manufacturer and we are informed of the outcome of the investigation. 

The sampling plan for 2009/2010 has been completed on time and within budget and the plan for 2010/2011 has been finalised and has been started.
