Awards initiative

Welsh local authorities and the Food Standards Agency Wales have developed and launched this national initiative as a joint project.

The scheme aims to raise consumer confidence by giving recognition to food businesses with excellent hygiene procedures in place.  There are three categories of award gold, silver and bronze. Achieving any of these awards is significant and indicates high standards.

Benefits to businesses

• The certificate will be presented to display on the premises demonstrating the commitment of the business to provide safe food thus enhancing your reputation
• Efforts to publicise the awards locally will be made by the Vale of Glamorgan Council
• A Welsh Food Hygiene Certificate which can be displayed on the premises. This will demonstrate to customers a commitment to produce safe food and enhance business reputation
• Local publicity for businesses
