Adult
Learners' Week
12-19 May 2012 .
. .
What's happening?
Adult Learners' Week is the UK's largest and
longest running learning campaign. Held each May, it encourages
thousands of adults, whatever their age, and background, to give
learning a go.
The campaign offers adults the chance to have a go at learning
something new by trying out one of the hundreds of free taster
sessions that happen across the Vale during the week, and an
opportunity for learning providers to showcase their provision.
Join us on Tuesday 15 May on
Kings Square for our Learning Festival day of events. We will be
offering Zumba, Qi Gong, how to sing the national anthem,
mosaic making, checking out ebooks with the library, decorating
cupcakes and more. At the Castleland Community Centre you can make
hanging baskets and plant a herb box.
Around the Vale during the Adult Learners' Week there will be
more activities happening: jewellery-making in Llantwit Major
School, Photochallenge in Cowbridge Community College
and Welsh for the family in Llantwit Major Library, Palmerston
Community Learning Centre and Penarth Library.
On Friday 18 May in County Library, Barry and
on Kings Square, it will be Digital Day. Come and find out
more about using computers to help you get a new job. Visit the
Jobcentreplus and Careers Wales staff for information and advice,
drop into our Friday workclub or try an internet workshop in the
library.
Check out the What's On
brochure for more information about all our activities during
Adult Learners' Week or take a look at the NIACEdc
website for information of activities across Wales.
