National Year of Reading: Read the Game
It’s the
Olympics this month and time to celebrate sports and games. Search
our library catalogue for books about the Olympics or your
favourite sport.
Online Resource Spotlight:
Encyclopaedia Britannica
Our 24 Hour Library allows Vale of
Glamorgan Library members to view a range of information books and
resources online. Many of these databases can be accessed from any
internet PC when you type your library card number. Each month we
will spotlight one of these resources to tie in with the NYR
theme.
This month
we spotlight Encyclopaedia
Britannica. Find out more about the history of the Olympics and
your favourite sports from its in-depth articles.
You will find more books on sport in some of our other online
resources. On the Gale Virtual Reference Library you will find the
Encyclopaedia of Extreme Sports and the
World of Sports Science. While on KnowUK you will find the
Mammoth Books of Sports and
Games.
Team Read
Each year we run a Children's Summer Reading Challenge
throughout the school holidays. This year’s challenge is Team Read and has a
sports theme. Pop into your local Vale library to join and to find
out about the range of children’s events and activities taking
place there.
