Accessibility
The library entrance is reached by a ramp or steps. Once inside
the building, visitors can use a lift to the first floor and
basement. There is a hearing loop at the counter. Limited onstreet
parking is available outside the library.
What we've got to offer
Penarth library has a wide selection of books for loan and a
large and varied multimedia library, stocking the latest movies, TV
shows and music albums. We also have a sizeable collection of local
studies materials including census records, historical editions of
The Penarth Times and much more.
In addition, we also offer:
- Free computer access
- Free Wi-Fi
- Photocopier - black and white A4 and A3
- Fax service
- Newspapers and magazines
- Study tables
- Display boards for local and national groups - ask
library staff for more information about booking the display
boards.
Children’s Library and Events
Children have their own library with lots of
picture and reading books as well as resources to help with
homework and hobbies. We run regular events for children
including:
Toddler Time
Toddler time is a stories and craft session
for the under fives that takes place every Tuesday between 2 -
2.30pm.
Bookings are taken on the day for this
session. Please ring or visit the library after 9.30am to book your
place.
Tots Treasure Time
A themed musical rhyme session for babies and
tots is held on alternate Wednesdays between 10 – 10.30am. There is
no need to book for these sessions.
Rhyme and Sign
Action and singing sessions using baby signing
take place for the under fives on alternate Fridays between 10 –
10.30am. There is no need to book for these sessions.
BLAST
BLAST is a weekly art and creative writing
group, each session is crammed with interesting ideas along with
practical activities to encourage children’s creativity. No
previous knowledge or expertise is necessary!
Booking is essential for these activities;
bookings can be taken the week leading up to each event by
contacting the library in person or by phone.

A monthly children’s reading group for 7-12
year olds is held in Penarth library. Enquire in the library for
