Licensing
We are responsible for the licensing of a wide variety of
activities. These include taxis, street collections, the sale of
alcohol, pet shops, street trading and many many more.
Licensing Fees and Charges 2007/2008
The new licensing
fees (PDF - 56KB) are now available.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council are reviewing the standard
conditions attached to private hire and hackney carriage drivers’
licences, private hire operator’s licences, private hire vehicle
licences and hackney carriage vehicle licences. Consultation on the
proposed conditions is now underway. The documents are available to
view. Any comments must be made in writing to the Licensing
Department by the 28th March 2008.

Our aim is to achieve, through the licensing process, a high
standard of public safety, animal welfare and to prevent nuisance.
To help ensure that this happens, we also impose
conditions/restrictions on licence holders, which we enforce by
inspection and investigation of complaints.
We work closely with the Police, Fire Brigade, Planning and
Environmental Health Officers to ensure that public safety is
maintained.

Licensing Act
In accordance with Section 5 of the Licensing Act 2003, the
Licensing Authority of the Vale of Glamorgan Council must review
and re-publish its Statement of Licensing Policy by January
2008.

The consultation process will end on the 4th November 2007 and
any comments you wish to make in respect of the Policy must be
received in writing by the Licensing Authority no later than this
date.
