Deposit LDP Consultation

The Deposit LDP is based on the information gathered at previous stages of the LDP process and has regard to the responses to the Draft Preferred Strategy consultation in January / February 2008.

The Deposit LDP sets out the vision, objectives, strategy and policies for managing development in the Vale of Glamorgan. It also outlines the requirements for delivery and implementation of allocated sites and provides a monitoring framework for assessing the effectiveness of the Plan. The Deposit LDP is accompanied by a Proposals Map and a Constraints Map.

In addition, the Council has also prepared a Sustainability Appraisal Report and Habitats Regulations Assessment (Appropriate Assessment) Report. The Sustainability Appraisal Report combines a Sustainability Appraisal and a Strategic Environmental Assessment of the Deposit LDP and assesses whether the implementation of the LDP will deliver sustainable development in the Vale of Glamorgan. The Habitats Regulations Assessment of the Deposit LDP is required under European Law to protect the most valuable habitats and species in Europe. Any plan or project that has the potential to impact on a European Protected Site must be assessed to ascertain the likelihood and significance of its effects on the integrity of the site.

During the six-week public consultation period, paper copies of the LDP consultation documents, notice of the deposit matters and other documents were made available for public inspection at the Council’s main offices in Barry and Wenvoe and at all Vale of Glamorgan Council libraries during normal opening hours. Representation forms and accompanying guidance notes were made available at the Deposit locations and on the Council’s website throughout the consultation period. During the consultation period, the Council held a series of public exhibitions at Barry, Cowbridge, Penarth and Llantwit Major where members of the LDP team were available to answer any queries regarding the consultation process.
