It is with great sadness that the Vale of Glamorgan Council is today marking the death of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Our thoughts and prayers are with her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family at this time.

It is with great sadness that His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh has passed away.  I had the pleasure of meeting The Prince Philip at St James’s Place in relation the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme.  His inspiration in relation to Young People is a significant legacy and a testimony to his work in this and many other fields.  My sympathy goes out to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II and members of the Royal Family.

HRH Prince Philip was a great servant to the UK. He was a great supporter and patron of many charities and voluntary organisations and his work with these groups will have touched the lives of a great many people.
