The human figure is probably the most challenging and rewarding subject for an artist to draw. Throughout the centuries artists have studied the human form often starting with drawing from statues created by the Greeks and Romans.
This course will provide a guide to drawing from the model
Students will closely observe the figure and be introduced to different methods of drawing using a variety of materials. They will look at how other artists have approached the subject.
Some of the methods to be explored are :-
Gestural drawing; Contour line; Tonal drawing; measuring and proportions; Exploring line and volume; Composition.
This is a friendly and relaxed class. Beginners are welcome and more experienced artists will have the opportunity to practise their drawing
Large sheets of good cartridge paper can be bought at the centre for 50p and sugar paper for 10p otherwise bring charcoal, pencils from the B range. Sketchbooks, masking tape
