Pontypridd RoadWelsh Water's work on Pontypridd Road

Welsh Water are due to undertake a series of essential works on Pontypridd Road in Barry.

Temporary traffic lights, lane closures and signed diversions will be in place along Pontypridd Road as Welsh Water complete essential work on the area's underground wastewater network.

What changes will be in place and when?

Four-way traffic lights at junction of Ffordd Cwym Cidi and Severn Avenue

20/01/20 - 01/03/20

Work will commence on 20 January at the junction of Ffordd Cwym Cidi and Severn Avenue. In order to complete this part of the works, temporary four-way traffic lights will be in place (with the permanent lights switched off) for 6 weeks.

Overnight Southbound closure due to work near Waycock roundabout

20/01/20, for 5 nights

Between 20 - 25 January, the southbound lane of Pontypridd Road will be closed between 7:00pm - 6:00am. This is to ensure the safety of both residents and the team completing the work.

A signed diversion will be in place during these hours; outside of these hours, the road will be open to two-way traffic.

To minimise disruption, any noisy elements of the work will be completed before 11:00pm each night.

Installing the new pipeline

Then, from 27 January, Welsh Water will fit a new sewage pipe across the road.

These works will be undertaken during the working day and two-way traffic will be maintained along Pontypridd Road. This will also include weekend working. This part of the work will take around 4 weeks to complete.

A final overnight southbound closure will then be in place from 7pm to 6am for one week. These works are provisionally programmed to commence on the 01 March 2020.

Again, signed diversions will be in place and all noisy work will take place before 11.00pm.
