Supplementary Planning Guidance

The Council has prepared and adopted Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) documents on various topics. SPG provides additional policy advice for the Local Development Plan (LDP).

Public Consultation on Supplementary Planning Guidance: Cardiff Airport and Gateway Development Zone

The Vale of Glamorgan Local Development Plan 2011-2026 (LDP) was adopted by the Council on the 28 June 2017. The LDP supersedes the previous adopted Unitary Development Plan and sets out the policies for managing development in the Vale of Glamorgan and is the basis for decisions on land use planning.

The Council has prepared a draft Supplementary Planning Guidance document (SPG) to supplement the policies contained in the LDP in relation to the Cardiff Airport – St Athan Enterprise Zone and Strategic Employment Allocation. The SPG is referred to as:

The Council is undertaking a formal six week public consultation on the draft SPG from Monday 19 August 2019 until Tuesday 01 October 2019 and comments can be made on the consultation form.

In order to be considered as ‘duly made’ any representations must be received no later than 5.00pm.

Once the consultation period ends, all comments will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet for their consideration prior to the final adoption of the SPG for use in the determination of future planning applications.

In the interim the Council’s existing adopted SPG will still be used as a material consideration in the determination of planning applications.

If you require any further information about the SPGs or this consultation exercise, please contact the LDP Team on 01446 700111 or email LDP@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk

Supplementary Planning Guidance

The Council has a number of adopted Supplementary Planning Guidance documents (SPGs) which were originally prepared to supplement the policies contained in the previous Unitary Development Plan (UDP). Following the Adoption of the Local Development Plan (LDP) a review of SPGs is being carried out in accordance with the monitoring and implementation targets contained in the LDP (Section 8 of the LDP refers). In the interim, those SPG documents which were adopted under the UDP will be carried forward for use as material considerations in the determination of planning applications.
