Whitmore High School


Project overview:

  • New build on the same site.
  • £30.5M investment.
  • Teaching space will be spread across three storeys. A specialist suite will also help support students with additional learning needs. Indoor and outdoor sporting facilities form part of the development and include a 3G all-weather pitch and multi-use games court as well as a central courtyard designated for group learning and informal use. There will also be a multifunctional hall with retractable seating and a large dining area.

Timeline:

  • Proposal approved by Cabinet March 2017
  • March 2019 – September 2019: Planning Application Process 
  • May 2019: Welsh Government Business Case
  • Summer 2019 – July 2021: Construction on site
  • Spring 2021: Staff and pupils transfer to new school
  • July 2022: Project completion

Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg

 

Project overview:

  • Expansion from 1361 to 1660 pupils (including primary and 6thform). Refurbishment of current buildings and new extension.
  • £21.5M investment.
  • The project will involve the building of a new design and technology block, a sports and IT block, a multi-use games area with six tarmac courts and an all-weather 3G Rugby pitch. A new reception area and entrance block will also be constructed along with a plant room and a new coach drop-off and pick-up area.

Timeline:

  • Proposal approved by Cabinet December 2016
  • January 2019 – July 2019: Planning Application Process 
  • May 2019: Welsh Government Business Case
  • Summer 2019 – July 2021: Construction on site
  • September 2021: Staff and pupils transfer to new school
  • July 2022: Project completion

  • £34.8M investment.
  • The redevelopment will include a dining hall, a courtyard, a sixth form area, performance spaces and excellent sporting facilities including an all-weather hockey pitch, grassed football and rugby pitches, games courts and an indoor sports hall.

  • July 2019 – December 2019: Planning Application Process 
  • October 2019: Welsh Government Business Case
  • May 2020 – December 2021: Construction on site
  • Early 2022: Staff and pupils transfer to new school
  • Spring 2023: Project completion
