Autism And Education
Autism is said to be a “Spectrum” disorder.
That simply means there is a very wide range abilities and behaviours.
The Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) covers a range of individuals which includes people who have severe learning difficulties and little or no verbal communication, through to those with an average or above average or high intellectual ability.
Some individuals, notably those with Asperger’s Syndrome can be very able academically. But, even those more capable will still have their share of difficulty in making sense of the world.
The Vale of Glamorgan has a wide range of services in place to support children and young people on the Autism spectrum through their education.
