Following the success of the cycle hire scheme in Cardiff, we received requests for a similar system in the Vale.
In response to this, a pilot scheme was launched in Penarth in November 2021. Due to the success of the scheme additional docking stations have been installed in Sully and Dinas Powys.
Electric bikes (E-bikes) are a combination of a conventional bike with a motor that take some of the effort out of pedalling for the rider.
With top speeds of 25km per hour, the e-bikes can cover greater distances in less time and with less effort than conventional cycles.

We are pleased to announce that Shared Prosperity Funding has been granted to allow us to expand the ehire bike scheme into Barry.
Public consultation ran from 5 June to 23 July2023 for docking station suggestions in Barry.

The Council will work with the hire provider during 2023 and finalise the locations. The scheme is due to go live in the spring of 2024.
