An Aspirational and Culturally Vibrant Vale
We are working with our partners to achieve an aspirational and culturally vibrant Vale
By working together we are:
- Raising overall standards of achievement
- Valuing culture and diversity
We will continue to improve standards of achievement for pupils through sharing excellence between schools and the targetting of resources. We will reduce the achievement gap due to poverty, improving standards in literacy and numercy and promote pupil well-being. We will also reduce the number of young people leaving school in year 13 who are NEET and restructure the Youth Service to offer young people an improved service in line with the Youth Service National Framework.
We will also work to improve the learning environment and will complete a new school building for YSgol Y Ddraig as part of the Llantwit Major Learning Community and work to provide a new building for Llantwit Comprehensive School whihc will open in 2017. We will also consult on proposals to expand Welsh medium secondary school places and the establishment of mixed-sex English medium secondary schools.
A network of community libraries are being established and we will co-locate adult learning, library and arts services to create accessible, integrated lifelong learning opportunities in Barry library.
