  • Guidance notes for Applicants

  • Applicant with a Disability

We are committed to achieving a workforce that is representative of the community we serve by increasing, retaining and developing the number of disabled people we employ.

We are recognised by Jobcentre Plus as meeting the requirements of their Positive About Disabled People campaign, having made the following additional commitments to:

    • Interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for a job vacancy

    • Make every effort when employees become disabled to make sure they stay in employment

    • Ensure that all employees develop the appropriate level of disability awareness

    • Ensure there is a mechanism in place to discuss with disabled employees, what both parties can do to make sure disabled employees can develop and use their abilities

We will review these commitments each year and assess what has been achieved, plan ways to improve on them and let employees and Jobcentre Plus know about progress and future plans.

If you are disabled and you are short-listed for an interview you are entitled to:

    • A pre-interview visit to the workplace

    • Reasonable adjustments enabling you to fully participate at the interview
