Vale of Glamorgan Council’s 2017 Mayors Christmas Card Goes Global 

This year’s Christmas card competition held by The Mayor of the Vale of Glamorgan, Councillor Janice Charles, saw over 500 entries sent in from children all over the county.

The Mayor chose three winners, all from Y Bont Faen Primary School in Cowbridge. The overall winner was year six pupil Amy Quance, with nursery pupil Harry Williams in second place, and Emily Wallis from Reception class in third place.   


These designs will be used as the digital Christmas Card by The Leader of The Vale of Glamorgan Council, Councillor John Thomas.

Cllr Thomas said: “I am delighted to use Emily’s frosty snowman design as my Christmas Greeting this year and I am sure all those receiving it will be filled with festive cheer.”



The runners up were Emrys Bowen; Mattea Griffiths and Ffion Thomas from Ysgol Sant Curig, Barry.

Runners up from St Illtyd School in Llantwit Major were Oliver Ingram; Niamh; Mason Cornwall and Mackenzie, and Lottie Smale; Dylan Bail Braunton; Oscar Birrane; Peter Coe; Seren Morgan and Katie Gardner from Y Bont Faen school. 



The Vale of Glamorgan Mayor, Cllr Janice Charles, said: “I loved the thought that Amy put into her design and am very proud that this is the card that will be printed to send as my official Christmas Greeting all over Wales and Europe."


The Mayor would like to thank everyone who entered the competition, as well as Mrs Adams, the children and staff of y Bont Faen.
