Starting at the beach huts on the Promenade, runners are encouraged to dress up as food items to run a 2k or 5k course around the island on Saturday 2 December.
Community Investment & Involvement Officer, Make Ellis and a team will run the 5k dressed in fruit and vegetable
Mark Ellis, said: “We are organising the run to raise awareness of the foodbank, and going the extra mile, quite literally, for the cause. It would be great to see families there and people can walk, run or jog the 5k course.”
The Vale foodbank located in Tennyson Road, Colcot, is a non-profit, charitable organisation that distributes food to those who have difficulty purchasing enough food to avoid hunger.
There are six centres across the Vale where people can drop off food packages.
Park runners are asked to bring food items to donate on the day, which can be popped in a donation box at the finish line. The run is open to people of all ages and abilities and runners will be timed.
For further information on the race or to donate items to the foodbank, call Mark Ellis on 07826 020707.
