Learn Welsh in the Vale of Glamorgan awarded £26,000 Innovation Grant
A £26,000 Innovation Grant has been awarded to Learn Welsh the Vale, allowing them to develop a homework club for families of children in Welsh schools, in partnership with the Urdd, Menter Bro Morgannwg and Mudiad Meithrin.
Learn Welsh courses reach out to adults living in the Vale of Glamorgan, who want to learn to communicate through the Welsh language.
All providers to the National Centre for Learning Welsh were invited to bid for a new grant to develop innovative practice in partnership with other local or national organisations.
The new club, called Clwb PYG - Plant mewn Ysgol Gymraeg (Children in Welsh School), co-ordinated by Learn Welsh the Vale, will run once a week for two hours after school, for the pilot summer term 2018 at Palmerston Centre.
This club will run on a drop-in basis with no fees, and will offer opportunities for children and parents to learn together, both inside and outside the school environment. They will receive support with literacy, numeracy and digital skills, advice and help with homework tasks and Welsh language skills.
