Initial consideration of the responses received to the public consultation on Vale of Glamorgan Council’s proposal to build a new primary school in Rhoose and relocate Llancarfan Primary School is now underway after the window for submissions closed on 20 April.

Cllr Bob Penrose, Cabinet Member for Learning and Culture, said: “The Council received a significant number of responses to the consultation and these make clear the great strength of feeling within the village of Llancarfan and the surrounding area.

“It is clear from the responses received that there are a number of issues for us to address, including the potential impacts on the community of Llancarfan and concerns surrounding the future of the school site and buildings, if proposals to relocate Llancarfan school are to be taken forward.

“The Council is committed to ensuring that all pupils in the Vale have every opportunity to succeed. This is a vision that can only be realised by working in partnership with schools, governors, parents, and the wider communities we all serve. For this reason the consultation exercise has been valuable and important in informing the next steps”.

Further information will be provided once an initial consideration of responses has been undertaken.
