Santa’s Cause returns for Christmas 2026
The Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Christmas gift-giving and fundraising campaign returns for a fifth year.
Santa’s Cause is returning for Christmas 2026, with the Vale of Glamorgan Council once again calling on local businesses, organisations and residents to help make Christmas brighter for children and families supported by its Social Services teams.
Christmas can be a difficult time for families already facing challenging circumstances, with the added pressure of rising household costs making it harder for some to afford gifts.
Santa’s Cause aims to make sure every child supported by the Council’s Social Services teams has a gift to open on Christmas Day.
Since launching in 2022, the campaign has provided thousands of gifts to children and young people across the Vale. This has only been possible thanks to the generosity of local people, businesses, community groups and Council staff.
Financial donations allow the Santa’s Cause team to shop for the specific items children have asked for, based on Christmas wish lists provided by Social Services teams. This allows gifts to be tailored to each child’s interests, personality and wishes, so that on Christmas morning they have something that feels like it was chosen just for them, helping to keep the magic of Christmas alive.

Cllr Lis Burnett, Leader of the Vale of Glamorgan Council, said: “The response to this campaign makes us incredibly proud. People give what they can, businesses get behind it, and our Social Services teams work hard to make sure those donations reach children and families who need them.
“For families already under financial pressure, Christmas can bring additional worries at a time that should be about spending time together and enjoying the festive season. A gift chosen especially for a child can make a real difference and help bring some joy to their Christmas morning.
“Since Santa’s Cause began, thousands of gifts have been given to children across the Vale. We hope that, with the continued support of our wonderful community, we can reach every child supported by our teams again this year.
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who gets behind Santa’s Cause. It is a lovely reminder of what can happen when a community comes together to support one another.”
