Owing to essential maintenance on the Vale of Glamorgan’s email system on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th January the application forms need to be taken offline while the work is completed to avoid the potential for lost submissions.

They will be available again from Monday 18th January.

 

Please check your bank account to see if you have already received an automatic payment of £3000 / £5000 from the Vale of Glamorgan Council in December 2020 before submitting an application – Please do not apply if you have already received an automatic payment, this will slow down other businesses applications.

Hospitality businesses ONLY

All other eligible businesses

  • For those Non-Essential retail businesses forced to close from 20th December, who received an October Firebreaker Non Domestic Rate Grant of £3000-£5000, you will be paid automatically and do not need to make a new application. 
  • For those Hospitality, Tourism and Leisure businesses and their supply chains and retail businesses that can evidence (on a self-declared basis) greater than 40% reduction in turnover as a direct result of the new restrictions, the application process is now open.
  • For those Non-Essential retail businesses forced to close from 20th December, who did not receive an October Firebreaker Non Domestic Grant, the application process is now open.  

Guidance Notes 

 

  • Grant A: A £3,000 cash grant payment for hospitality businesses / hospitality not-for-profit organisations and non-essential retail businesses with Small Business Rate Relief (SBRR) qualifying hereditaments with a rateable value of £12,000 or less. 

  •  

    Grant B: A £5,000 cash grant payment for hospitality businesses / hospitality not-for-profit organisations and non-essential retail businesses occupying hereditaments with a rateable value between £12,001 and £51,000. 

  •  Grant C: A £5,000 cash grant payment for hospitality businesses / hospitality not-for-profit organisations and non-essential retail businesses occupying hereditaments with a rateable value between £51,001 and £150,000.

  • These grants will be available to hospitality, tourism and leisure businesses / hospitality, tourism and leisure not-for-profit organisations and their supply chains, and for retail businesses with qualifying properties that can evidence (on a self-declared basis) greater than 40% reduction in turnover as a direct result of new restrictions. 

  • Those businesses will be asked to self-declare whether they have experienced a 40% reduction in turnover for December 2020 as compared to December 2019. If the business was not trading in December 2019, the comparison in turnover should be for the monthly turnover for December 2020 vs September 2020. The turnover reduction must be as a direct result of the new restrictions introduced on and since 4th December. 

  • Eligible hospitality and non-essential retail businesses and not-for profit organisations do not need to make any form of self-declaration in respect of their turnover. 

  • The applicant’s hereditament must have been on the NDR rating list as of the 01 September 2020 and the ratepayer needs to have been in occupation of the property as of the 30 November 2020.

Please only compete this application form if you are liable for paying business rates to Vale of Glamorgan Council.
