Garden Volunteering Project
Volunteers are now being recruited for a brand new garden support project in the Vale of Glamorgan. You can earn Time Credits by volunteering to support tenants with their gardens. Are you looking to help with overgrown gardens? Do you have 2—3 hours spare a week? Would you like to earn Time Credits? Work includes mowing lawns, maintaining and clearing gardens, hedge strimming and weeding.
Ty Hafan Charity Shop (Charity Shop assistants)
Barry and Penarth
We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help support our shop managers in the day-to-day running of our shops. No experience necessary as full training will be given. This is a great way to support Ty Hafan and make new friends, or gain some on-the-job experience. As a retail volunteer you will: - Give great customer service with bags of enthusiasm - Sort and prepare stock for the shop floor - Keep the shelves and displays fresh and in-fashion by merchandising in accordance with seasonal styles.
Barry YMCA Hub (Music)

Volunteer age 16+ Major Music, located in the Barry YMCA Hub, is offering volunteer opportunities to support young people with music (instruments, singing, etc.) This project runs from 6.30pm - 9pm on Tuesdays.
Age Connects - (Shopping)
Cardiff and The Vale of Glamorgan
Have you thought about shopping for somebody else whilst you shop for yourself? We are looking for volunteers aged 18+ to assist our elderly clients with their shopping. This can be done by either taking them shopping or doing the shopping on their behalf. The suggested time commitment is 2 hours per week (which is negotiated between volunteer and client) which could be mornings or afternoons. An informal discussion, references and a disclosure and barring check will be required.
Gibby Green Fingers - (Gardening)
Pencoedtre Fields, Barry
Gibby Green Fingers, located at Barry Community Allotment in the heart of Pencoedtre provides a service for local people to get involved with gardening. We have a fantastic huge garden with a pond and newly built sensory area. We require volunteers of all ages with gardening knowledge to come and maintain our grounds, cutting grass, planting, weeding, etc. We also grow our own vegetables, and community groups are involved in this process as much as possible.
Innovate Trust - (Conservation & Environmental Work)

Are you interested in working outdoors, making new friends and helping people to gain new skills and increased confidence? We are looking for volunteers who will assist the Green Days environmental conservation project in increasing the independence and skills of vulnerable adults. The project is delivered outdoors in nature reserves, parks and public green spaces in the Vale of Glamorgan and includes a wide range of activities. We carry out footpath maintenance, litter clearing, removal of invasive species, maintenance of wildlife areas, habitat and general landscape improvement.
Barry Beavers Disabled Swimming Club - (Coaching, swimming and event planning)
Barry
Volunteers aged 14+ are required to help people of all ages to have fun in the swimming pool. Volunteers can also assist with social activities and galas which take place. Full training is provided. The suggested time commitment is 1 hour per week on a Saturday afternoon - 3.45 - 4.45. References, informal discussions and a disclosure and barring check are required.
Vale Homes – Community Investment Team - (Digital Champions)
Vale of Glamorgan
Volunteers aged 18+ are required to work with older people in sheltered and Digital Hub settings throughout the Vale of Glamorgan to enhance their computing skills and requirements. Using Skype, email, Social interactive sites, websites and other specified programmes and software. Voluntary work can be done one to one or in a group setting.
Vale of Glamorgan Council Sports and Play Development - (Park Run & Junior Park Run Volunteers)
Vale of Glamorgan
The Vale of Glamorgan Council Sports Development team are looking to start some exciting social running projects with young people. Young people within the Vale have indicated that they want to do more running as a social activity and to keep fit and improve their fitness. Barry Park Run and Barry Junior Park Run are also looking for volunteers to help out at the 5k runs on a Saturday and Sunday morning at Barry Island and Romilly Park. Training opportunities can be provided.
Castleland Community Centre - (Catering and Café Assistants)

DIC offers a range of support, training, advocacy and other opportunities to individuals and groups within the area of Barry. We have various user groups who use the Centre and the cafe facilities and we are therefore looking for volunteers to help serve the teas and coffees on a Tuesday morning. Training provided on the premises.
Bro Radio Station - (Station Presenters)
YMCA Hub, Barry
News is a vital part of Bro Radio's output, with the station being one of the top sources for local news in the Vale of Glamorgan. Interested individuals will be required to source reliable local news and sports stories and turn these into engaging news bulletins that will be broadcast on air and online. Experience in radio or journalism is not necessary as full training will be provided.
Greenlinks - (Volunteer Drivers)
The Alps Depot, Wenvoe
Volunteers aged 21+ who have held a driving licence for a minimum of 2 years (ideally with D1 entitlement, but not essential) are required to drive vehicles to support community transport within the Vale of Glamorgan. The organisation has 6 accessible vehicles: a 13 seater bus; two 12 seater buses, a 9 seater bus and two cars. The service provides transport across the Vale of Glamorgan and as far as Bridgend, Porthcawl, Llantrisant and Cardiff. We generally operate between 8:30 and 17:00. Greenlinks is open to residents of the Vale of Glamorgan to join.
Litter Picking
Gibbonsdown and Cadoxton
Children 6+ can help Cllr Julie Aviet and Cllr Helen Payne with weekly litter picks in the Gibbonsdown and Cadoxton areas. Litter picks will take place every Sunday afternoon with all equipment and bags provided.
