Drawing and Portrait Drawing for Improvers

No Classes Wednesday 17 and Wednesday 24 April - Easter Holidays

 

This course follows on from the beginners course and/or for those who have previously attended a drawing class and have a sound ability of drawing.

The course will help you to develop and build upon existing skills and extend your confidence in observational drawing. You will be introduced to a wide range of media, and explore application of tone and shade, and also using colour.

Subject matter throughout the course will range from still life, portraiture, and location. Drawings will be from life and real objects. You will also be introduced to a wide variety of artists, relative to each lesson, and respond to the work of others. 

 

Please bring along: 

Cartridge paper and charcoal, black sugar paper and chalk, masking tape or clips. A variety of drawing pencils B – 6B or graphite sticks. Black ballpoint or fineliner pens. If you wish to paint on  the course please bring your chosen medium – watercolour, medium, oils. A range of paintbrushes, palette. You will also be asked to bring in objects for still life, mirrors for portraiture.

 

Meet the Artist Lucy Jones

Lucy Jones is an experienced art and design tutor with over 10 years experience, and gained a PGCE in Art & Design from Cardiff University. Her background is in graphic design and illustration and gained a Ba(Hons) degree from the University of Plymouth. Her passion lies with drawing and mixed media and she has had her work exhibited in several exhibitions in South Wales. Her sessions are laid back and relaxed with a focus on the individual expressing their own style of work. She aims to build confidence in the learner and extend their use of exciting materials. Lucy is also keen to introduce her learners to a wide range of traditional and contemporary artists, relative to the themes she is teaching.
