Design and make your own unique jewellery from pewter. You will learn how to carve your designs in plaster moulds and use the ancient hand gravity casting to create three dimensional items which can be made into necklaces, brooches, earrings, keyings or fridge magnets.
What to bring:
A notebook and pencil plus any sketches or images of what you would like to make. All equipment will be provided but if students do have any jewellery tools, they may like to bring them along. Do wear old clothes or bring an apron.
Meet the Tutor - Mandy Nash
I set up my workshop in 1983 after leaving the Royal College of Art and established my studio in Model House Craft and Design Centre in 1990. I work primarily in anodised aluminium producing one off and batch production jewellery. Over the last fifteen years I have also been developing work in felt, combining this with my jewellery practice, creating both functional and non functional work. My three passions are colour, pattern and technique and much of my inspiration comes from my travels around the world. I am regional co-ordinator and exhibitions officer of the International Feltmakers Association, a member of the Makers Guild in Wales, the Association of Contemporary Jewellery, MaP, a textile group and Seven:14, a mixed media group. I have exhibited widely in the UK, Europe, Japan, USA and Canada.
