How to report a security incident, including a data breach

The reports are monitored Monday - Friday, from 8.30am to 5pm. Your report will be considered and an officer will get back to you. Please make sure you are available. Try to avoid sending notifications at 5pm on a Friday and then signing off for the day.

The team will give you advice on what to do. You will receive advice on what to do on the same day as you make the report in most cases. Where your report relates to a data breach you may need to report the breach to the Information Comissioners Office (ICO). The Information Governance Team will help you if you need to do this. Please note that where data breaches need to be reported to the ICO, this ideally needs to be done within 72 hours of you becoming aware of the breach. The 72 hours includes weekends.
