Food Waste Action Week: Let’s Power Wales to No.1 in Recycling!
This Food Waste Action Week, we’re backing Wales Recycles' Be Mighty. Recycle campaign to help Wales become No.1 in the world for recycling—and we need your help to get there.
Why Food Waste Matters
Wales is already a global recycling leader, climbing from third to second place. But there’s one big challenge left to tackle—food waste.
A quarter of the average household bin is still made up of food waste, and the numbers are even higher in the workplace. Shockingly, 80% of this food could have been eaten, costing the average family around £84 a month.
At home and at work, small changes can make a big impact—and together, we can help cut waste and turn food scraps into clean, green energy to power our communities!

What You Can’t Eat—Recycle!
Not everything can be eaten, but food scraps should always go in the food recycling bin, not the rubbish.
Did you know? Just nine recycled banana peels can create enough electricity to fully charge your laptop, and six recycled teabags generate enough energy to make another cup of tea. That’s the next round sorted!
