Quickstart paid placement opportunities
Department managers are invited to apply for the Quickstart scheme this Autumn.
The scheme will fund 10 young people to complete placements within the Council. The aim is to give 18-24 year olds who live in the Vale of Glamorgan essential employment skills to enhance their future career prospects.
The job must be a new role and must not replace existing or planned vacancies, nor cause existing employees, apprentices or contractors to lose work or reduce their working hours.
Managers must also be able to provide employment for six months (initially funded via Quickstart). The Council will then look to offer more sustainable employment for the Quickstart candidate upon successful completion of their placement.
The funding will cover 25 hours per week at the National Living Wage (dependent on candidates age) for the 6 month duration. It will also provide up to £500 per candidate for training and resources.
Some candidates may also receive additional pre-employment training via the Communities for Work program in partnership with Adult Community Learning.
If you think you can offer a suitable placement, please contact:
Michelle Atkins (ccing) Angelina Patrick into all correspondence, for further information - MEAtkins@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk / (cc) APatrick@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk
The deadline to apply is Monday 08 August, where further information can be provided and job vacancy templates will be sent out for completion. The vacancies will be advertised from Monday, 22 August with candidates due to start on Monday, 26 September.
Please note, managers of the approved vacancies will be asked to agree to and sign the Quickstart Terms and Conditions.
