How Are You Supporting Santa’s Cause?
Teams and individuals from across the Council are once again going above and beyond to support Santa’s Cause 2025, our annual campaign to ensure that every child known to our social services teams, who may otherwise go without, has a gift to open on Christmas morning.
So far, we’ve received incredibly generous financial and gift donations from staff across the organisation - diolch!
Here are just a few highlights of what colleagues have been doing to support the campaign:
- Maddy Carver from our Transformation Team organised a Santa’s Cause Fun Run at Barry Island. Many staff ran or volunteered, and an impressive £700 was raised!
- Our Healthy Living Team have once again provided a fantastic selection of play equipment that will make lovely gifts.
- Rhys Jones and the Vale Youth Service have been busy fundraising and supporting the campaign in all sorts of ways.
- Heng Gôleg colleagues are holding their Christmas Fayre today, with proceeds going to Santa’s Cause.
- Our Family Information Service have supported the project team by helping with fundraising activities, raffles and games at their annual Christmas event.
- Jess Player from our Dewis Team has organised a gift drop at her Parkrun.
- Celt+ and CEFW+ Teams have arranged a gift collection as part of the festive warm space at The Pod taking place next Wednesday.
We know there are many more of you fundraising, donating, or planning your own activities. Please let us know what you’ve been up to so we can make sure you receive a thank you.

Discounted Glastonbarry Tickets
The organiser of Glastonbarry has kindly donated family tickets for Glastonbarry 2026 to support the campaign.
We are offering staff the chance to buy a family ticket (admits 4 people) at a discounted price of £40 (RRP £60). We have eight tickets available.
Each family ticket admits four people (1 adult + 3 children or 2 adults + 2 children) to the family event on 24 July 2026 at Romilly Park, Barry.
If you’d like to purchase a ticket, please complete the interest form. If more than eight staff apply, names will be drawn at random.

All proceeds will go directly to Santa’s Cause.
Donate Your Unwanted Wrapping Paper
Although we don’t wrap the gifts ourselves (we want parents and carers to know exactly what their children will receive), we try to include wrapping paper with each gift bag so they can wrap the presents at home.
If you have spare or unused wrapping paper at home that you’d like to donate, you can drop it off at Civic Offices reception.
Not long now!
If you’d like to support this year’s campaign, we kindly ask for all donations by 15 December. If you’d like to donate, you can do so online or explore other ways to get involved.
Thank you once again for your generosity and for helping us make Santa’s Cause 2025 another success.
