Santa’s Cause 2025 - Thank You for Spreading the Christmas Magic!

Thanks to the incredible generosity and hard work of colleagues across the Council, hundreds of children and young people across the Vale of Glamorgan will wake up to a gift on Christmas morning.

Each year, the campaign brings together the community to support children and families facing financial difficulties, and staff support is always incredible – this year has been no exception.

Working closely with social services teams, colleagues helped ensure that gift bags were thoughtfully put together based on what children were hoping Santa might bring. These personalised gift bags are now making their way to doorsteps across the Vale, helping keep the magic of Christmas alive for those who need it most.

Staff support for Santa’s Cause has been amazing, with fundraising, gift collections and events taking place right across the Council. Just a few highlights include:

• Maddy Carver from our Transformation Team organised a Santa’s Cause Fun Run at Barry Island. Many colleagues ran or volunteered on the day, raising an impressive £700.
• Our Healthy Living Team once again donated a fantastic selection of play equipment, which will make brilliant Christmas gifts.
• Rhys Jones and the Vale Youth Service have been busy fundraising and supporting the campaign in lots of different ways.
• Heng Gôleg colleagues held their Christmas Fayre, with proceeds donated to Santa’s Cause.
• Our Family Information Service supported the project team by running fundraising activities, raffles and games at their annual Christmas event.
• Jess Player from the Dewis Team organised a gift drop at her Parkrun.
• Celt+ and CEFW+ arranged a gift collection as part of the festive warm space at The Pod.

And of course, these are just some examples. We know many more of you donated gifts, raised money, volunteered your time or helped spread the word and  every single contribution has helped make this campaign such a success – diolch!

A special thank you goes to the Santa’s Cause Project Team, involving colleagues from HR, the Transformation Team, Youth Service and Social Services, who work behind the scenes to bring everything together each year.
