Pride: Free Film Screening for Staff

17 June 2025

As part of our own Pride Month celebrations this June, we are proud to be hosting a free, staff-only screening of the award-winning film Pride.

Pride PosterThe screening will take place at the Penarth Pier Pavillion on the 27th June at 7pm and is an opportunity for colleagues to come together to celebrate inclusivity, solidarity, and LGBTQ+ history in one of the Vale’s most iconic venues.

This is a fantastic opportunity to connect, reflect, and honour the spirit of Pride through the power of cinema.

Pride (2014) is a historical comedy-drama written by Stephen Beresford and directed by Matthew Warchus. Based on a true story, the film follows a group of lesbian and gay activists who raised money to support families affected by the British miners' strike in 1984. This bold act of solidarity marked the beginning of what became the Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners campaign.

Heartfelt, funny, and deeply inspiring, Pride reminds us how unity across communities can spark real change.

This event is free and exclusively for Vale of Glamorgan Council staff and family.
