It’s Wales Climate Week 2025

This week is Wales Climate Week, a chance for us all to reflect on what we’re doing to tackle climate change and how we can each play our part.

As part of Project Zero, we’re committed to cutting our carbon footprint and supporting a greener, healthier Vale. Here are a few ways we’re marking the week:

New staffnet page on sustainable travel

We’ve launched a brand new Sustainable Travel page on StaffNet where you’ll find financial incentives and offers for greener travel and guidance and resources to help you choose sustainable travel options

Our annual staff travel survey shows many colleagues are already choosing sustainable travel, whether regularly or just occasionally. We know busy lives mean it’s not always possible every day, but with over 5,000 employees, even small changes can make a big difference.

We’re lucky to have green spaces, active travel routes, and the coast right on our doorstep, so why not give sustainable travel a try, even once?

New textiles recycling service

We’re also pleased to announce a new textiles recycling service launching from Monday 17 November 2025, starting in Barry and rolling out across the county in phases.

The clothes we collect will be given a second life through our offtaker, JMP Wilcox, where they’ll be resold at low prices in the UK and abroad to help people who can’t afford new clothing or need better quality items.

If you’re a Barry resident, keep an eye out for your leaflet or visit our website for more information.

You can explore more of what’s happening across our service areas on the Project Zero Hub, and if you’re involved in a project, big or small, that supports our goals, please let Project Zero Programme Manager, Susannah McWilliam, know!
