Have Your Say: What Should the Former Wilko Unit on Holton Road Become?

At the end of January, the Council officially completed the purchase of the former Wilko retail unit on Holton Road, marking the start of an exciting new chapter for this key space in Barry town centre.

Since taking ownership, our teams have been busy carrying out essential checks and assessments including reviewing utilities such as the electricity supply and confirming that the building is safe and compliant. With this initial work underway, we’re now moving into the next phase: gathering ideas and aspirations from the community and from you, our colleagues.

Why your input matters

The redevelopment of this site has the potential to support regeneration in Barry town centre, provide new opportunities for residents and visitors, and strengthen local services. Staff insights are hugely valuable at this early stage of the project, and your feedback will help shape future options and priorities.

Staff Drop-in Session

We're also hosting a drop-in session for officers at the Civic Offices, where you’ll be able to learn more about the project, ask questions, and contribute your ideas in person.
