Laura Davis retires after 35 years of service

Finance Manager Laura Davis is retiring after more than 35 years of Council service.

Following heartfelt goodbyes from those who have worked with her over the years, Laura’s final day will be on Friday 13th February 2026.

After the successful completion of her degree in Economics/Accountancy in 1990, Laura began her career as a Trainee Accountant in the Vale of Glamorgan County Borough Council, working within various sections including Audit and Accountancy.

Following Local Government reorganisation in 1996, Laura was appointed to the post of Senior Accountancy Assistant working in the Planning/Highways Department.

 In 2001 Laura was appointed to the post of Finance Officer following a restucturing exercise, and was again quickly promoted to the post of Accountant a few months later.

The next promotion happened in late 2005 to the post of Senior Accountant, within Finance, ICT and Property.

Following a further restructure in 2013, Laura was transferred to the post of Finance Support Manager, where she had worked until her retirement.
