Vale of Glamorgan Council named Employer of the Year at Apprenticeship Awards
23 February 2026
Last Thursday, during National Apprenticeship Week, Delyth Miller (OD & Learning) and Tracy Dickinson, Head of HR, attended an awards evening hosted by Cardiff and Vale College, alongside some of our apprentices.
In presenting the Employer of the Year Award, the College recognised our organisation as a valued partner for over a decade, highlighting our strong and consistent commitment to developing talent through apprenticeships.
Over the course of this partnership, more than 60 apprentices have progressed through programmes across multiple sectors, supported by a flexible approach that blends academic learning with practical experience.
This achievement recognises the work of the Organisational Development and Learning Team, who lead on apprenticeships across the Council, working closely with services, managers and external partners to create meaningful development pathways.
Their work ensures apprentices are supported to build skills, gain qualifications and contribute positively to service delivery and our communities.
The award also reflects the collective commitment of apprentices, line managers, mentors and partners across the organisation. Apprenticeships continue to play a vital role in workforce development, talent attraction and succession planning.
A fantastic achievement for the Vale of Glamorgan Council, and one we are very proud to celebrate! Llongyfarchiadau mawr!
