Trevor Baker appointed Interim Director of Environment and Housing

09 January 2026

Trevor BakerTrevor Baker has been appointed as the Council's new Director of Environment and Housing on an interim basis following a Senior Management Appointments Committee.

Trevor will take up the role on Monday 2 February 2026 and will be in the role for a period of up to 18 months.

This comes at an exciting time for the Directorate as it seeks to build momentum across a range of services for the benefit of communities across the Vale.

The ongoing transformation of these front-line services is critical to the success of the Council and the essential relationships we build with our town & community councils, our partners and residents.

The way we continue to adapt and change in the delivery of these front-line services is an exciting part of the Reshaping Programme as we look at different operating models and service transformation.

In the meantime, Trevor will continue in his current role as Head of Strategy, Community Learning and Resources within Learning and Skills up until 2 February and arrangements are currently being made to seek a replacement on an interim, secondment or fixed term basis to his current post from that date.

Chief Executive Rob Thomas said: “Trevor brings with him significant experience and expertise in modernisation and change management, having been involved in a number of initiatives that have brought new service delivery approaches to a number of services such as catering, libraries and community learning.  This experience will be invaluable as he works with colleagues across the Directorate and beyond.

“I am sure you will join me in congratulating Trevor on his appointment and will wish him all the best for the future.”
