UNISON Year of Green Activity 2026
UNISON has launched its 2026 Year of Green Activity, a year-long programme focusing on climate change and its impact on public services, workplaces and communities.
UNISON is the UK’s largest union, serving more than 1.3 million members, representing full-time and part-time staff who provide public services.
The campaign reflects growing concern about climate change across the UK, including increased flooding risks, more frequent extreme weather events and the wider effects on public health, public finances and the cost of living. UNISON reports that more than 90% of its members are concerned about climate change, with many already involved in work that helps prevent, prepare for or respond to its impacts.
As part of the Year of Green Activity, UNISON is offering a calendar of optional events. These include webinars, political engagement opportunities, short training modules and creative activities such as a Green UNISON film festival.
Two upcoming online events may be of particular interest to colleagues working in local government:
Further details, including the full events calendar and information on signing up to the Green UNISON newsletter, are available on the UNISON website.
