More than 1,300 children, parents and carers came together to enjoy a day of free activities, entertainment and family support at this year's Flying Start Family Fun Day at Pencoedtre Fields.

The event proved to be a huge success, bringing families from across the area together for a fun-filled day designed to celebrate early years development, community connections, support available through Flying Start services, as well as showcase partnership work.

Families enjoyed a wide range of free activities throughout the day, including games, crafts, interactive play sessions, face painting, and performances, ensuring there was something for children of all ages to enjoy.

Alongside the entertainment, the event also provided an opportunity for families to meet Flying Start staff and partner organisations,
learn about local services, and access advice and support in a welcoming and relaxed environment.

The impressive turnout of around 1,300 attendees highlights the importance of low-cost community events that bring families together, create positive experiences for children, and showcase the range of support available to help children get the best possible start in life.

Lance Carver, Director of Social Services, said: “The event would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of Flying Start teams, other colleagues, partner organisations and volunteers, who worked together to deliver a memorable day for local families.

“As the event continues to grow each year, its success demonstrates the value families place on opportunities to connect, learn and have fun
together within their community. Many thanks to all who attended and supported the event to make it the success it was.”
