A Weekend to Remember at Gŵyl Fach y Fro 2026

Gŵyl Fach y Fro returned to Barry Island on 16 and 17 May 2026, bringing the biggest free Welsh language celebration in the Vale back to the seafront for another exciting weekend of fun.

This year’s festival featured top artists and bands, performances from local schools, food and craft stalls, the new creative space Hafan Iolo and a second day of music supporting the Barry Island 10k.

Performers included Celt, Aleighcia Scott, Taran, Pwdin Reis, Daniel Lloyd a Mr Pinc, and many more.

Learners from a collection of Vale of Glamorgan schools also took part in performances throughout the event.

It was a fantastic celebration of Welsh language and culture in the Vale and is down to the excellent planning and teamwork from colleagues across the Council to make Gŵyl Fach y Fro a huge success!
