Vale social worker Jayne Case has described her joy after attending a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace recently.

jayne case RGP-6Jayne was one of two winners of the Royal Garden Party Draw in February, where colleagues were offered the opportunity to put their name forward to attend the Palace as representatives of the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

The names were drawn at random by the Leader and Chief Executive on Tuesday 10 February.

Speaking fondly about her experience in London, Jayne said: “My husband and I arrived at the Palace all dressed for the occasion and the atmosphere outside the Palace gates was a buzz of excitement. The Royal Standard was flying proudly above the Palace, meaning that King Charles was there.

“Walking through the grand gates of Buckingham Palace was a surreal experience. The gardens to the Palace were beautiful and we were able to walk around and enjoy the manicured grounds.

“The marquees were beautifully presented and inside, we were served an afternoon tea featuring finger sandwiches, Victoria Sponge and a selection of pastries.

“The National Anthem played and the Royal family, King and Queen, Princess Royal and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh made their way into the garden. The Yeomen of the Guard in their uniforms were present in their striking ceremonial uniforms.

“Sharing this day with my husband, at the Palace created a memory of sophisticated joy that we will both treasure for a lifetime and I am truly grateful for this experience and was honoured to represent the Vale of Glamorgan Council.”

We’re glad you had a fantastic time Jayne!
