National Payroll Week

This week is National Payroll Week, so to celebrate the council is highlighting the fantastic team behind your monthly pay.
The Payroll Team consists of ten important colleagues. Although labelled under one umbrella, they do much more than pressing a button and sending payslips. Here’s a little information about the fantastic team to show the appreciation for their hard work.
From the staff introductions, it’s clear to see the Payroll Team have a range of responsibilities. Some of their achievements from last year include:

Setting up nearly 600 new starters

Dealing with over 800 leavers including pension forms

Set up, paid and finished nearly 400 election staff
-
Made nearly 70,000 Bacs payments to staff

Dealt with over 6,500 changes to contract
-
13,500 absence payments
-
47,000 timecards paid
-
3,500 tax code changes from HMRC
-
525 student loan/post graduate loans processed
Monthly, their responsibilities include:

Running 3 payrolls, paying over 5,800 staff with over 8,600 jobs between them

Reporting over 574,000 payroll data items to LGPS and Teachers Pensions

Reporting over 432,000 payroll data items to HMRC
Without the hard work from the Payroll Team the Council would be completely lost – so a massive thank you to the wonderful individuals who work so hard to make sure everything runs smoothly. If you want to thank the team in person, they are running a Meet the Payroll Team drop in on Wednesday 9 September 2pm – 4pm, Learning & Skills Collaboration room on the 3rd floor, Civic Offices.
This is the perfect opportunity to meet the team, have your questions answered or to show your gratitude and appreciation face to face.
On the payroll team, there is no such thing as just ‘pushing a button’. They do so much for the Council behind the scenes, so this is our way of thanking them for all their hard work. Diolch yn fawr to the Payroll Team! Your hard work is valued and appreciated by everyone in the council.
