Developing a new Digital Strategy: Where are we now?

At the end of January, we shared news in an article to let you know that we were taking the first steps to develop a new Digital Strategy and Roadmap for the organisation. This work is being supported by Socitm.

Since then, six insight workshops have been held with colleagues from ICT and front-facing services from across all five directorates to understand the way we currently use digital technology.

Nine key areas were covered to understand what is working well, areas that could be improved and opportunities for the future.

Some of the key priorities that emerged from these sessions include:

  • People, Skills and Culture;
  • Vision and Leadership; and
  • User needs.

Senior managers are now being invited to take part in Digital Requirement Workshops to gather further insight and steer the next steps of delivering a new digital strategy.

Once these workshops are complete Socitm will analyse the feedback and share their recommendations with the Council.

Tom Bowring, Director of Corporate Resources, said: “I’m really pleased with how engaged colleagues have been with this process so far. All of the workshops have been well attended and the discussions have been really productive. I hope our senior management colleagues find the upcoming workshops equally useful and I look forward to seeing the feedback from those sessions.”
