Celebrating Disability Pride Month - Join Us to Mark the Occasion!

01 July 2025

July is Disability Pride Month, a special time to celebrate the creativity, resilience, and achievements of disabled people across the UK. It’s an important opportunity to embrace disability as a positive identity, challenge outdated stereotypes, and promote inclusion throughout our communities and workplaces.

Disability Pride Month encourages open conversations and raises awareness about the rich diversity of experiences within the disabled community. It also highlights the ongoing need for accessibility and allyship - values we’re proud to champion here in the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

Let’s use this month to celebrate difference, support each other, and continue building a more inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.

Join Us for a Special Disability Pride Month Event!

To mark Disability Pride Month, Abl, our staff disability network, warmly invites all colleagues to:

Abl LogoDisability Pride Flag Ceremony - outside the Civic Offices main entrance on Monday 14 July 2025 at 4:15pm

This will be followed by a relaxed gathering in the Dunraven Room (formerly the Corporate Suite), offering a chance to connect, share experiences, and learn more about Abl’s work to foster inclusion and support across the Council.

Mayor's Photocall:

The Mayor of the Vale of Glamorgan will also be hosting a photocall at the Disability Pride Flag at the Civic Offices on the same day at 12pm.

Members of Abl and all colleagues are invited to attend this community event as well. Feel free to come along to both events - what a great way to show your support for Disability Pride Month!
