Flying Start Family Fun Day lands a successful turnout for its fourth consecutive year
Flying Start Family Fun Day lands a successful turnout once again
The Flying Start Fun day took place last week and was attended by over 1,000 children and their families
The event is open for all families across the Vale and was supported by the Youth Service and a variety of other Council teams and services to provide activities for children and young people 0-12 years.
One attendant said: “It was a fantastic day out as always!! A huge thank you to all the organisers and stalls, a huge effort to put on such a fab free day out. 4 hours and spent £0, a massive relief to lots of families in the summer hols as they can get so expensive.
“Thank you for such a lovely day.”
Flying Start is the Welsh Government’s targeted Early Years programme that supports families with children under 4 years of age. The core elements of the programme have been shown to influence positive outcomes for children and their families. These include:
- Funded quality, part-time childcare for 2–3-year-olds
- An enhanced health visiting service
- Access to parenting support
- Support for Speech, Language and Communication development.
The event is just one of many activities available for young people this summer.
The Council’s Family Information Service has collated a calendar of free and low-cost summer activities suitable for children and young people up to the age of 25. Take a look at the activities on offer on our website.
