VVC Celebrates 10 Years of Adoption Success
29 July 2025
This summer the Vale, Valleys & Cardiff Adoption Collaborative (VVC) is celebrating 10 years since the service was established.
Hosted by the Vale of Glamorgan Council, VVC is one of five regional collaboratives in Wales that make up the National Adoption Service (NAS).
VVC provides adoption services across the Vale of Glamorgan, Rhondda Cynon Taff CBC, Merthyr Tydfil CBC, and Cardiff Council – all supported by a Joint Committee and Management Board made up of officers and members from each local authority.
Since 2015, VVC has placed over 700 children with adoptive families and approved more than 500 adoptive families – a huge achievement and a real testament to what can be done through teamwork and collaboration.
Each year the service attends a number of local and national events to publicise the service and this year - in conjunction with NAS – VVC were involved in the annual Pride celebrations and will attending the Vale of Glamorgan Show.
A key part of VVC’s work has been building up adoption support services – helping families post-adoption, offering access to birth records, and running popular group sessions and activities.
The service’s annual Family Fundays attract over 100 families, and VVC marked the 10th anniversary at its most recent Family Funday earlier in July.
VVC also has its own Marketing and Recruitment Officer - who works closely with regional and national partners to promote adoption as a positive choice – and the service now uses a number of social media platforms as well as a very comprehensive website to encourage people who are considering adoption to come forward.
Angela Harris, Regional Adoption Manager, says: “There’s a lot to be proud of – from our performance to our partnerships – but it’s all down to the hard work and dedication of our fantastic team.”
