World Book Night is an annual celebration of reading for adults, held on 23 April to coincide with UNESCO’s International Day of the Book and the traditional birth and death date of William Shakespeare.

Often described as the adult equivalent of World Book Day, it encourages people to share books and inspire others to discover the benefits and enjoyment of reading.

They will also be sharing information on how to join the library, take part in the Reading Hour, and enjoy everything the National Year of Reading has to offer.Throughout the same week, additional copies of the book and promotional leaflets will be distributed to students at the Vale Learning Centre.

This event forms part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to supporting literacy, fostering a love of reading, and strengthening connection in our communities.

Pop along to Barry Library on the 23 April to grab a book and get reading!
