The Index Celebrates the Publication of its 50th Newsletter
The Index for children and young people with disabilities and additional needs has reached a significant milestone with the publication of the 50th edition of The Index Newsletter.
Produced by Index Officer Lyndsey Richards, with support from the Family Information Service Team, this achievement reflects years of dedication to ensuring families across the Vale of Glamorgan receive timely, relevant and accessible information about local services, support, activities and opportunities.
Reaching 50 editions is a testament to the extensive partnership working and engagement that takes place behind the scenes. Every newsletter brings together contributions from a wide range of organisations and services, helping families stay informed and connected throughout their journey whether they are awaiting assessment, navigating a diagnosis, or simply looking for local support.
The newsletter, alongside regular e-bulletins, has become a valued source of information for families. Parent carers frequently tell us how much they appreciate receiving updates directly, helping them access support, discover opportunities and feel less isolated.
Lyndsey Richards said:
"It is a pleasure to provide families with information that can make a real difference to their lives. Through my own lived experience, I understand that navigating support services can sometimes feel overwhelming, and we're here to help whenever we can.
Parent carers can often feel isolated, mentally and physically exhausted, so offering them a helping hand, connecting them to support, and reminding them that they are not alone can make a huge difference. Reaching our 50th edition is something I am incredibly proud of, and it would not have been possible without the fantastic support of our partners and colleagues."
Lyndsey also extends her thanks to Jeanette Hodgetts, Graphic Designer, whose creativity and design expertise have helped bring each edition of the newsletter to life, ensuring information is presented in an engaging and accessible way for families, and to Becky Wickett, Social Care Information Team Manager, for her invaluable support and encouragement in helping the newsletter reach this significant milestone.
This milestone reflects the Council's commitment to supporting children, young people and families and demonstrates the positive impact that collaboration can have in helping residents access the right information at the right time.
The Index is funded through Welsh Government’s Families First Programme.
