Vale Youth Service Reflects on a Successful Pride Month

YS Pride 1Throughout June, Vale Youth Service proudly supported Pride Month by attending events across the region, creating welcoming, inclusive spaces for young people and celebrating diversity within our communities.

The team took part in three Pride events last month, engaging with more than 200 young people through a range of creative, wellbeing and youth engagement activities.

At Barry Pride on 6 June, Vale Youth Service ran a dedicated Youth Zone featuring outdoor games, crafts, wellbeing activities and a chill-out space. The team worked with more than 100 young people during the event, providing opportunities to connect, have fun and access support in a safe and inclusive environment.

On 13 June, the team joined colleagues from Cardiff Youth Service and Impact at Pride Cymru in Cardiff. Together, they welcomed 52 young people to the Youth Zone, delivering a variety of Pride-themed activities including banner making, bracelet making and decorating Pride-themed pocket hearts.

The month concluded at Cowbridge Pride on 28 June, where the team joined the GLAM Network for a networking breakfast at Cowbridge Library before taking part in the Pride parade.

YS Pride 2Throughout the day, they engaged with around 50 young people, promoting youth clubs and encouraging those of eligible age to get involved with opportunities available through Vale Youth Service.

Looking back on Pride Month, the events provided valuable opportunities to celebrate diversity and demonstrate Vale Youth Service's ongoing commitment to creating safe, welcoming and inclusive spaces for all.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this year's Pride events such a success and for representing the Vale with such enthusiasm, professionalism and pride.
